Sleep Symposium

Following the opening session, participants received a comprehensive overview of the physiological foundations of sleep, the significance of sleep phases, and the age-related, gender-specific, and neurodegenerative aspects of the circadian rhythm, presented by renowned speakers. The Friday evening program also addressed the psychodynamic approach to sleep, as well as the role of sleep disorders in Parkinson’s disease and restless legs syndrome. The professional lectures were followed by a cultural program and informal discussions.

Saturday focused on changes in metabolic processes during sleep and the health consequences of sleep disorders. Speakers highlighted the role of sleep disturbances in the development of obesity and diabetes, as well as the cardiovascular risks associated with sleep apnea syndrome. During the morning sessions, topics included the biomarker role of sleep EEG, sleep disorders related to endocrine conditions, and the advantages and disadvantages of sleep medications. The symposium concluded with a joint evaluation session, providing participants with the opportunity to summarize and discuss the insights gained.
