The Szent Balázs Foundation participated in the “Egészségforgatag” 2024 at the invitation of Gedeon Richter Romania. Our aim was to raise awareness about the risks of hypertension and diabetes. During the programme, participants received free blood pressure and blood glucose screenings, along with personalised advice from medical specialists. We believe it is crucial to promote health awareness, as hypertension affects nearly half of Romania’s population and can lead to serious cardiovascular issues. Regular blood glucose testing is also essential for the prevention and treatment of diabetes.
This is how our volunteer doctors recall the event:
“It was a unique and uplifting experience for me as a volunteer doctor to participate in the 2024 Health Forum. I was both surprised and pleased to see the participants’ interest and enthusiasm for blood glucose and blood pressure control, as well as the various preventive assessments and advice given on Friday.” (Dr. Boglárka Varga, resident diabetologist)
“The screening programme took place in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with many people showing concern for their health. Alongside the examinations, questions about lifestyle, diabetes, and hypertension also played a significant role, as many people continue to face contradictory information and medical misconceptions. I am glad I had the opportunity to talk with them and offer professional advice to help them lead healthier lives. Health education is an important and rewarding task, and I highly recommend it to all my young colleagues.” (Dr. Marton László, resident diabetologist)
We are pleased that so many people were interested and actively participated in the programme because health awareness is a shared responsibility for all of us!
