The 4th Transylvanian Hungarian Diabetology Meeting, held in Sztána between June 7–9, 2024, provided a comprehensive overview of contemporary treatment options and challenges in diabetes care. The conference presentations addressed topics such as the role of SGLT2 inhibitors, the importance of gut microbiota in type 2 diabetes, autoimmunity in childhood diabetes, and the management of secondary hypogonadism. In the practical sessions, sensor- and insulin pump–based therapies, as well as new developments in MODY-type diabetes, received special attention. Evening programs, including a campfire gathering and a dance evening, also offered opportunities for informal sharing of professional experiences.

In the second half of the meeting, the focus shifted to gynecological complications and the care of pregnant women with diabetes, with labor and delivery care issues also discussed in the form of practical workshops. On the closing day, participants exchanged views on the significance of hypoglycemia, the current status of DPP-4 inhibitors, and the importance of balancing clinical protocols with physicians’ experience. The meeting served not only to expand professional knowledge but also to strengthen connections within the Transylvanian and Hungarian diabetology community.
