The First Hungarian Transylvanian Diabetology Meeting was held on May 19–20, 2018 in Szentegyháza, focusing on modern treatment options for diabetes. A total of 27 physicians and resident doctors participated in the forum.

On the first day of the meeting, participants attended lectures on the effects of physical activity on blood glucose levels, the metabolic and psychosocial benefits of diabetes associations, and experiences from lifestyle camps. The scientific program concluded with an informal get-together and a joint dinner.

On the second day, current topics were discussed, including the management of gestational diabetes, diabetes care in the elderly, central nervous system aspects of insulin resistance, and cases of secondary and syndromic diabetes. The day was further complemented by dietary counseling, an overview of nutritional management for diabetic patients with renal failure, and the possibilities of bariatric surgery. In addition to expanding professional knowledge, the aim of the event was to promote professional dialogue among Hungarian diabetologists in Transylvania.
